MUMBAI, 02nd February 2020 (GNI): Cricket and cinema are followed as religions in India. While there’s a Celebrity Cricket League where actors from different film industries of India play against each other, certain cricketers have made appearances in movies as well. Latest of them is India’s ace off spinner Harbhajan Singh.
The veteran India spinner and an Indian Premier League legend for Mumbai Indians and later for Chennai Super Kings will be foraying into the world of cinema as an actor. He will be playing a lead role in a film tentatively titled Friendship to be made in Tamil hindi Kannada Malayam and Telugu, and will be directed by John Paul Raj & Sham Surya, and produced by JPR & Stalin.
The makers of the film took to the micro-blogging site Twitter to make the announcement of the film. They posted, “For the first time in Indian cinema Indian cricketer @harbhajan_singh playing a lead role in #Friendship . This “2020” is Will be Unexpected!!! Previously, Harbhajan Singh has been a judge on MTV Roadies. He also participated and won the TV dance reality show Ek Khiladi Ek Haseena with actress Mona Singh. And now Harbhajan is ready to make his entry on the big screen with Friendship in five languages. Howzzat!
