Mr Mukundan Menon appointed as the President of Refrigeration and Air conditioning Manufacturers Association (RAMA)

New Delhi, 10th January 2025 (GNI): Mr Mukundan Menon has been appointed as the President of the Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Manufacturers Association (RAMA), an association representing the manufacturers in the refrigeration and air conditioning industry in India. RAMA has been actively contributing to the implementation and formulation of government policies related to the industry. It is affiliated with the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII).
Mr Menon succeeds Mr Kanwaljeet Jawa, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Daikin Airconditioning, who led RAMA for the past four years and made significant contribution to the association’s success. Mr. Menon’s appointment as President is for a period of two years.
Mr Menon is currently serving as the Executive Director & Head, Room AC Business at Voltas Limited and has served as the Vice President of RAMA for the past four years. He brings extensive experience and expertise that spans the entire HVAC&R industry. Known for his strategic insight into opportunities within the Indian market, as well as his keen focus on air conditioning and refrigeration, Mr Menon has developed strong connections across the value chain.
RAMA continues to work closely with the government and other stakeholders on key initiatives such as the Make in India programme, developing a robust component ecosystem, enhancing energy efficiency, fostering the development of integrated cold chain infrastructure, addressing issues related to global warming refrigerants, and driving energy conservation and sustainable building practices. RAMA is also actively involved in e-waste recycling, ensuring high-quality standards, supporting export promotion, fostering the start-up ecosystem, and facilitating skill development and employment generation.
The Government of India’s launch of the PLI Scheme for air conditioners has transformed the manufacturing ecosystem in India. The industry has invested over Rs. 6,000 crores in new facilities and technology centers, with Sri City emerging as a major export hub. RAMA has been instrumental in advocating for such initiatives, ensuring their alignment with industry needs.

Reflecting on his appointment, Mr Mukundan Menon, President, RAMA & Executive Director & Head, Room AC Business, Voltas Limited, remarked: “I am deeply humbled to take on the responsibility of leading RAMA at such a critical juncture in the industry’s evolution. Our collective vision is to create an ecosystem that not only supports the government’s strategic initiatives but also positions India as a global leader in refrigeration and air conditioning manufacturing.” ends GNI
