Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital, Navi Mumbai unveils state-of-the-art physical rehabilitation Centre ~ Expanding access for critical care rehabilitation to patients

Navi Mumbai, 14 October 2024  (GNI): Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital, Navi Mumbai, is thrilled to unveil its cutting-edge physical rehabilitation centre for patient care. This state-of-the-art facility aims to support patients recovering from brain strokes, road traffic accidents (RTAs), and cardiac events, highlighting the critical role of rehabilitation in their recovery journey. The new centre offers advanced technologies and innovative therapies, including an unweighing system that reduces manual handling, minimizes fall risk, and enhances treatment efficiency while prioritizing therapist ergonomics.

New rehabilitation technologies in rehabilitation added at the hospital include an unweighing system to reduce fall, a balance trainer for stability, and a robotic trainer for functional exercises. Other tools like motorized parallel bars and tilt tables help with walking and upright positioning, while ADL therapy simulates daily activities, paediatric rehab targets conditions like cerebral palsy, and shockwave therapy aids in healing pain from issues like plantar fasciitis.

The new centre’s comprehensive rehabilitation services cater to a wide range of conditions, including stroke recovery, cardiac rehabilitation, orthopaedic issues, brain and spinal cord injuries, and sports injuries. Specialized care in women’s health, post-operative oncology physiotherapy, and pediatric rehabilitation ensures personalized, top-tier care for all patients. Rehabilitation is often referred to as the “fourth pillar” of healthcare. Emergencies, disasters, and disease outbreaks highlight the urgency for expanded access to rehabilitation.

Speaking at the launch of this physical rehabilitation centre, Dr. Abhishek Srivastava, Head and Director of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital, led the inauguration of the centre, highlighting, “There is a growing need for such rehabilitation and patient care facilities in our country and rehabilitation truly adds life to years by enhancing patient recovery. This new facility will be dedicated to help individuals rebuild their lives and achieve optimal health outcomes.”

Dr. Deepika Tavade (PT), Senior Physiotherapist at Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital, Navi Mumbai, said, “Rehabilitation is a critical component of universal health coverage and plays a key role in ensuring healthy lives and promoting well-being for all. We are thrilled to announce the new centre that is focussed on making a meaningful impact on the health and well-being of patients.”

This new centre aims to fill this gap by offering high-quality, specialized rehabilitation services to help patients recover from life- threatening conditions and also regain independence and significantly improve their quality of life.enfd GNI
