‘Aliens’ Feast on ‘Human Flesh’ in PETA India Pro-Vegan Display

Mumbai, 23rd February 2024 (GNI) : To give passers-by food for thought about what – or whom – they put on their plates, People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) India supporters in alien costumes beamed down to Girgaon Chowpatty in Mumbai, today, to dine on a delicious “dead human”. Their victim laid on a table beneath a banner asking, “What if aliens treated us the way we treat animals? Go Vegan!” The demonstration comes at a time when India’s growing space capabilities are in the spotlight after the country successfully landed a probe on the moon’s south pole in a historic first.

Photos and video are available here.

“If aliens ever visit Earth, we’d all better hope they don’t cage us, kill us, and chop up our bodies the way humans do to other species,” said PETA India Campaigns Coordinator Utkarsh Garg. “PETA India is urging everyone to make the galaxy a kinder place by keeping our fellow Earthlings off our plates.”

PETA India – whose motto reads, in part, that “animals are not ours to eat” – points out that animals killed for food suffer extensively, as seen in its disturbing and highly publicised video exposé “Glass Walls”. Chickens used for eggs are crammed into cages so small they can’t even spread a wing. Because male chicks and calves cannot lay eggs or produce milk, they are often killed. Male chicks are commonly drowned, burned, or crushed, and calves are often left to starve. Goats and other animals killed for food are crammed into vehicles and transported to slaughterhouses in such high numbers that many sustain broken bones or even suffocate on the way. At slaughterhouses, workers often hack at the throats of buffaloes, sheep, and other animals with dull blades. And on the decks of fishing boats, fish suffocate or are cut open while they’re still alive.

Each person who goes vegan spares nearly 200 animals per year immense suffering and a terrifying death. In addition, raising animals for food uses up to a third of the world’s freshwater resources and a third of global cropland for animal feed, and a United Nations report concluded that a global shift towards vegan eating is necessary if we are to stem the worst effects of the climate catastrophe.

PETA India opposes speciesism, a human-supremacist worldview. For more information, please visit PETAIndia.com
