39th NIFT Foundation Day Celebrated at the Kharghar campus

Kharghar, January 22, 2024 (GNI): The 39th NIFT Foundation Day was celebrated with immense enthusiasm at the Kharghar campus, marking a day of reflection, culture, and industry connections. The campus resonated with vibrant cultural events that showcased the talents and spirit of the students.

The highlight of the celebration was the unique formation of the NIFT logo by students, accompanied by a lively flash mob and a fascinating hook-step choreography. The event featured a diverse range of activities organized by the Students Development Activity Clubs, including a dance drama on hornbills and family values, a dynamic college band performance by Decibels, and solo and duet dance performances. The Literary Club’s drama society, ‘Aagah,’ presented a thought-provoking street play on queer awareness, receiving recognition from the audience.

The Ethics and Social Services Club added a creative touch to the celebration with hair and makeup, and face painting activities based on the theme ‘NIFT Diaries.’ The Students Development Activity Club also showcased a vibrant Graffiti, titled ‘NIFT is You,’ depicting a kaleidoscope of students’ memories at NIFT Mumbai. A visual display of students’ successful events post-pandemic, organized by the Adventure and Photography Club, provided a glimpse into their achievements.

The event commenced with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp, followed by a warm welcome note from NIFT Mumbai Director Prof. Dr. Pavan Godiawala. Reflecting on the significant contribution of the fashion and lifestyle industry to the country’s GDP, he credited the achievement to the dedicated faculty members, officials, and over 10,000 alumni. Prof. Dr. Pavan Godiawala expressed gratitude to the founder member, Prof. Dr. Sharmila Dua, for her pivotal role in setting up the NIFT Mumbai Campus in 1995. He motivated the students, stating that they are the future of the industry, likely to reach new heights.
The celebration continued with a special invitation to NIFT Mumbai alumni, who were felicitated for their remarkable contributions. An engaging alumni interaction session showcased the experiences and journeys of these industry professionals, offering valuable insights into their success roots at NIFT Mumbai. The interactive session covered key skills gained during their NIFT days, challenges faced, creative processes, sustainability practices, and advice for the next generation of fashion enthusiasts.
