Mumbai, 31st December 2023 (GNI): The 23rd Parle Mahotsav, which has been running through 32 different competitions since last week, concluded successfully in an atmosphere of joy and vitality. In this year’s festival, total prizes of 25,000 including 392 first prizes were distributed, while 3.5 participants were registered so far with 30,000 contestants this year and 800 activists got active participation. The participation from a 6-month-old baby in Healthy Baby Competition to 92-year-old Vasant Mhatre in the handwriting competition was a highlight of this festival. Chief organizer MLA Parag Alwani gave the credit for the success of this festival to the volunteers. Every year this festival increases and thus the responsibility on the workers also increases, but everyone is working to fulfill it well, he said.
After the inauguration of the festival by Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, many dignitaries visited the festival. Under the leadership of prominent activists such as Milind Shinde, Shrikrishna Ambekar, Vineet Gore, Vilas Karamalkar, N. Sureshan, Praveer Kapoor, Rajesh Mehta, former corporators Jyoti Alwani and Sunita Mehta, former corporators Anish Makwani and Abhijeet Samant etc., the contestants from various competitions held at different places in the Vileparle area participated enthusiastically and presented their skills in cultural and sports sections. So the entire Vileparle was festive. Prizes were awarded to the winners of the finals at the conclusion. At that time, the cheerful atmosphere and sportsmanship of the participants brought a unique color to the program. The participants expressed that the Parle Mahotsav is not just an event but a true celebration of unity, spirit and sportsmanship.
Sunita Gunde became Home Minister: Sunita Gunde got the first honor of being the Home Minister of the Parle festival and Rajshree Mandavakar got the second honor. Rekha Vishwakarma, Surekha Dingankar, Poonam Singh, Priya Sawant received prizes for best dress. At the same time, Swara Kadam, Meghna Gawande, Akshata Dhanavede were given the first three prizes in the first group and Shritika Narkar, Prachi Shendye, Vaishali Sutar in the second group.
Enthusiastic participation of senior citizens too: Sarang Sabnis, Aparna Kulkarni, Manjula Thakkar, Sunita Jadhav, Vilasini Chitre won the competition organized in various groups for senior citizens. Besides him, Priya Parulekar, Pramod Shende, Shubhada Narvekar, Tarmati Hadshi, Kusum Bharankar also bagged the rank. The highlight of the senior citizen competition is that 92-year-old Vasant Mhatre participated in the handwriting competition and presented his skills.
Bodybuilding Competition: Winners and runners-up in bodybuilding competition group wise – 55 kg – Akshay Gavane, Omkar Angre, 60 kg – Ganesh Patil, Sachin Boinwad, 65 kg – Saimi Khan, Anil Jaiswal, 70 kg – Umesh Gupta, Nadeem Ansari, 75 kg – Surat Nirmal, Vishal Running, 80 kg – Amit Satam, Akshay Khot, 80 kg – Harmeet Singh, Abhishek Londhe.
