Mumbai, 01st July 2023 (GNI): Directorate General of Lighthouses and Lightships (DGLL), Mumbai Directorate, under ministry of Ports Shipping and Waterways organized 10 KM and 3 KM run on the occasion of World Marine Aids to Navigation Day (WAtoN Day) on 1st July 2023. The event was conducted at the sea front of Bandra Fort in which more than 400 runners across Mumbai City/Maharashtra participated. Shri Madhukar G Gudadhe, Deputy Director General, DGLL flagged off the run.
The WAtoN day is celebrated on 1st July every year to mark the formation of International Association of Marine Aids to Navigation and Lighthouse Authorities (IALA) in which DGLL represents India since 1957. This day is celebrated to enhance the public awareness on Aids to Navigation, Safety of Marine Navigation and protection of Marine environment. Best performers in different categories were felicitated and presented with mementos. Ends GNI
