YODA to feed over 10,000 stray animals everyday for the next 3 months

Mumbai, 20 August, 2021 (GNI): The YODA Massive Feeding Drive with support of Vedanta, Anil Agarwal Foundation is set to commence in the beginning of August where the NGO will be feeding 10,000 animals over the next 3 months with the help of the 200 + network of feeders in and around Mumbai, Thane and the Konkan region.

In 2020, YODA (Youth Organisation in Defence of Animals), was the first animal welfare organisation in India to take up the responsibility  of organising the largest – “Lockdown Feeding Drive” across Maharashtra in 2020.

Pooja Sakpal, Co-Founder YODA “One of the worst affected because of the Covid pandemic lockdown were the stray animals. The animals went hungry due to of lack of human access to the outdoors, reduced income of feeders, and lack of feeder’s access to food supplies and transportation. As a result, stray animals were left to fend for themselves.”

During the first phase, YODA fed over 10,000 animals in 2020 for a period of 3 months.  YODA can conduct such because the organisation has the largest network of feeders across the state.

The relentless of the second wave has now again caused another massive vacuum in the supply towards strays across Maharashtra that YODA is now working towards eliminating and thus the animal welfare NGO had decided to undertake this massive drive this year once again. YODA will also continue to educate communities to ensure feeding animals is continued on a regular basis, stated in the press release.

About Yoda: YODA is a Mumbai-based NGO that was started with a vision to help abandoned animals throughout the country and provide homes for these abandoned and stray animals. The organization actively finds homes for stray animals (dogs and cats) and mass sterilizations of stray animals in different zones across Mumbai and surrounding regions.ends
