This Independence Day, India’s tricolour will illuminate iconic buildings across the world *Under ‘Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav’ UN headquarters will also get illuminated *Canada’s Niagara falls will also bath in the colours of the Indian flag

August 13, Mumbai/New Delhi (GNI): On the occasion of India’s 75th Independence Day, the world will see many of its iconic buildings illuminated in India’s tricolour. This is part of the ongoing, ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ which is a commemoration of 75 years of India’s independence, and the glorious history of its people, culture and achievements

As directed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Ministry of External Affairs has completed all the preparations regarding the celebrations. All the formalities along with selecting iconic buildings and tourist destinations in many countries of the world for this event to be organized as a part of ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ have been completed.

As many as 75 iconic buildings and tourist places of many countries including America, UK, Dubai will be lit up in the light of the Indian tricolor from the evening of August 15 to the morning of August 16. The waves of the famous Niagara Falls in Canada will also be seen bathing in the tricolor. The main buildings that will be illuminated in the tricolour include the United Nations Headquarters in Geneva, America’s Empire State Building, Burj Khalifa in Dubai, Russia’s Evolution Tower, the famous ADNOC Group Tower in Abu Dhabi city of Saudi Arabia and the United Kingdom’s Birmingham Library Building.

An official of the Ministry of External Affairs said, “Azadi Ki Amrit Mahotsav is a campaign of public participation. Its purpose is to remember those moments of pride, which are associated with the history of India’s independence. With its launch, a large number of Indians living abroad are joining it with full enthusiasm.”

On August 15, India along with the world will celebrate the country’s 75th year of independence. Prime Minister Narendra Modi started the ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ campaign on 12 March 2021. It was on this date when the Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi started the Dandi Yatra in 1930. This campaign will run till 15th August 2023.ends
