Union Minister Piyush Goyal Inaugurates Hunger Free World Initiative at Atal Bihari Vajpayee Kaushalya Vikas Kendra, Mumbai

Mumbai | 9 June 2026: Shri Piyush Goyal, Hon’ble Union Minister for Commerce & Industry, inaugurated Malabar Group’s Hunger Free World initiative at the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Kaushalya Vikas Kendra (ABVKVK), Kandivali East, Mumbai, reinforcing the role of nutrition in supporting learning, skill development, and future employment opportunities for young people.

As part of the initiative, Malabar Group will provide 100 nutritious meals daily to students enrolled at the centre, supporting their wellbeing and helping them focus on vocational training, certification programmes, career development, and future employment opportunities.

The initiative forms part of Malabar Group’s Hunger Free World programme, one of the Group’s flagship CSR initiatives focused on addressing hunger and improving access to nutrition among vulnerable communities. Hunger Free World currently distributes over one lakh meals every day across multiple locations in India and international markets, reflecting the Group’s sustained commitment to hunger eradication and community wellbeing.

Malabar Group’s CSR initiatives are guided by a long-standing commitment to allocate 5% of its net trading profit towards social responsibility programmes. Reinforcing this commitment, the Group recently announced a CSR outlay of ₹200 crore for FY 2026-27, one of its largest annual commitments towards social impact initiatives spanning education, hunger eradication, healthcare, housing, women empowerment, and environmental sustainability. Through these initiatives, the Group continues to create structured and long-term social impact across communities.

The Atal Bihari Vajpayee Kaushalya Vikas Kendra, established under the vision of Shri Piyush Goyal, serves as an important skill development hub that provides vocational training, certification programmes, career counselling, and placement support to youth, helping enhance employability and create pathways for sustainable livelihoods.

Shri Piyush Goyal, Hon’ble Union Minister for Commerce & Industry, said,“Skill development plays a vital role in empowering young people and preparing them for meaningful employment opportunities. Initiatives that support students through essential services such as nutrition can make a significant difference in enabling them to focus on learning and personal growth. Such collaborative efforts contribute meaningfully towards strengthening the ecosystem for youth development and employability.”

Commenting on the initiative, M. P. Ahammad, Chairman, Malabar Group, said,“Nutrition and education are closely interconnected. A supportive learning environment requires not only access to quality training but also access to adequate nutrition. Through Hunger Free World, we seek to address this fundamental need and support individuals in their journey towards self-reliance and economic empowerment. Initiatives such as this demonstrate how nutrition, skill development, and community support can work together to create meaningful opportunities for young people and contribute to long-term social development.”

The initiative reflects a shared commitment towards empowering young people through holistic support systems that combine nutrition, learning, and livelihood opportunities. By supporting students at the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Kaushalya Vikas Kendra, Malabar Group seeks to contribute towards an ecosystem where nutrition, skill development, and opportunity come together to support long-term personal and economic growth.ends GNI
