Navi Mumbai, 10th April 2024 (GNI): The ACC Navi Mumbai organized a 2 day ‘Cadaver Dissection Workshop’ in Oral Oncology in collaboration with DY Patil University School of Medicine, Navi Mumbai. The 2-day workshop was attended by 140 delegates across India and featured presentations, discussions and a hands-on head and neck oncology dissection workshop in a state-of the art dissection lab.
Dr. Anil D’Cruz – Director Oncology & Senior Consultant Surgical Oncology was the course director and Dr. Sataksi Chatterjee – Consultant Surgical Oncology was the course coordinator. Dr. Rajiv Rao – Dean, DY Patil University School of Medicine graciously supported the workshop. Informative lectures were delivered by Dr. Tejinder Singh – Senior Consultant Medical Oncology, ACC Navi Mumbai, Dr. Amol Ingule – Sr. Consultant Radiology, Apollo Hospitals Navi Mumbai. National experts from Tata Memorial Hospital, Mumbai as well as institutes from Delhi & Kolkata were esteemed faculty. Cadaver dissections were demonstrated by the ACC Navi Mumbai Head & Neck Surgical Oncology team.
Dr. Anil D’Cruz – Director Oncology & Senior Consultant Surgical Oncology ACC Navi Mumbai said,‘‘The Head and Neck Oncology Dissection workshop at ACC Navi Mumbai was specially designed to give budding surgeons from various disciplines including maxillo-facial, ENT, head & neck as well as general surgery a chance to learn about contemporary management of oral cancer – which is the most common cancer in Indian males – as well as get exposed to the latest advances in the field. The cadaveric dissection course added an extra dimension as the delegates had a near similar environment to the operating rooms given that the cadavers were fresh frozen & not embalmed as in other dissection courses.’’
