Mumbai | Khandala | 25 April 2023 (GNI): This Earth Day, Chalet Hotels Limited (“Chalet”), owner, developer, asset manager, and operator of high-end hotels and resorts in India, took a step towards the reduction of carbon footprint and betterment of the environment. The company organized a plantation drive at The Dukes Retreat in Khandala, a leisure property recently acquired by Chalet. With its unique features, the property has the potential to become a top-tier green lifestyle resort. Over the next few months, Chalet will be carrying out renovations, and upgrades to the resort to further enhance its offering.
In alignment with the theme this year – ‘Invest in Our Planet’ – the company initiated a plantation drive and created a ‘Trees Bank’ for the forthcoming landscape. The event took place on Saturday, April 22, 2023, from 3:30 pm to 5:00 pm, and was followed by a high tea. Additionally, the F&B arrangement was set up with locally sourced and grown sustainable food. Guests and hotel associates attended the event to show their support for the cause.
Present at the plantation drive were esteemed guests, hotel associates and key influencers from the local communities including Ms. Bindra Ganatra, a former Corporator LMC and Social Worker. During the event, a healthy mix of 100 trees that are fruit-bearing, flowering, and produce the most oxygen were planted in pots so that they could be transplanted to their permanent places in the future as per the landscape scheme. These native and drought-tolerant tree species will help improve air quality, reduce soil erosion, and enhance the biodiversity of the property. The Company will regularly monitor and maintain these trees to ensure their growth and survival. By organizing this plantation drive, Chalet aims to spread awareness about environmental issues and encourage everyone to take a step towards a sustainable future.
Speaking about the plantation drive at The Dukes Retreat, Mr. Sanjay Sethi, MD & CEO, Chalet Hotels Limited said, “We at Chalet are committed to making a positive impact on our planet, and Earth Day provided another opportunity to do so. The plantation drive at The Dukes Retreat serves as a reminder of the need to take action to protect our planet and encourage individuals, organizations, and governments to take steps towards sustainability and work towards a healthier and more sustainable future,” stated in the press release.ends GNI SG
