Honda 2Wheelers India celebrates 32nd National Road Safety Month

·      Honda 2Wheelers India kick-starts month-long special digital road safety awareness modules across India 

·      Road Safety e-Gurukul to educate all age groups – from kids to adults, new riders to skill-up of existing riders

·      Thousands to take the road safety pledge across Honda’s 12 Traffic Training Parks, 6 SDECs, 6,300+ network

Mumbai, January 19, 2021 (GNI): Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India Pvt. Ltd. announced its 360O road safety awareness initiative for the 32nd National Road Safety Month (NRSM), which started nation-wide from yesterday under the ‘Sadak Suraksha Jeevan Raksha’ theme set by Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH). Aiming for a collision-free society with Safety for All on the road, Honda will accelerate its efforts to educate citizens; both digitally through its unique Honda Road Safety e-Gurukul and via its offline trainings across India.

Honda’s 360-degree awareness drive will educate all age groups on healthy road practices. Learner license applicants & traffic rule violators will learn about traffic rules & road discipline through classroom training sessions at Honda’s Safety Driving Education Centers (SDECs) in 6 cities. At the same time, Honda’s 12 traffic training parks across 11 cities will digitally harness the Power of 7 to citizens in collaboration with various State Governments, schools, colleges and corporates across India. This will be supplemented by more than 6,300 Honda’s sales and service outlets who will educate Honda’s two-wheeler customers in 1000+ towns and cities across India. Further taking this initiative ahead, Honda will also conduct an online road safety awareness quiz for its internal associates across its 1000+ dealers, 4 manufacturing plants, 17 zonal offices, 5 regional offices and its head office.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Prabhu Nagaraj – Senior Vice President, Brand & CommunicationHonda Motorcycle & Scooter India Pvt. Ltd. said, “For 20 years, Honda has been aggressively working towards its vision of ‘Safety for Everyone’ on roads. Every year, the National Road Safety Week is observed in India with an aim to make India roads safer. As a responsible corporate, Honda is upping its road safety initiatives with special Road Safety e-Gurukul awareness drive across multiple towns & cities of India. Honda’s safety instructors will emphasise on important subjects like road engineering, Motor Vehicle Act and importance of regular vehicle health check-ups, correct riding techniques and the golden rules of road safety. With this initiative, Honda aims to sensitize all type of road users, be it existing or new riders, drivers or even young children who are pedestrians or pillions of their responsibility on roads”, stated in the press release.

During this month long drive, Honda through its special learning modules & activities will spread awareness to:

1.    School Kids: Honda will digitally train school kids on important subjects like safety gears, road rules and traffic signs. Making it fun, Honda will also conduct quiz competition, poster making & painting competition based on road safety.

2.    New & existing riders & drivers: Honda’s safety instructorswill digitally educate riders & drivers on topics like blackspot, Good Samaritan laws, vehicle inspection etc.

3.    Honda customers: A special rider training activity for 16+ year customers to experience over 100 possible road dangers. Honda touch points will engage with customers through activities like screening of road safety video at customer lounges, traffic rules & road signs explanation with leaflet distributions and display of banner.

Honda’s legacy in Road Safety promotion: Since 1970, Honda is the first automobile manufacturer to provide safety education, not only to riders but to everyone sharing the road. Honda’s vision “Safety for everyone” has now expanded to 41 countries worldwide.

In India too, Honda was the 1st two-wheeler manufacturer to promote road safety education. In its 20 years, Honda has provided safety education & training to more than 38 lac individuals. While, Honda’s 12 adopted Traffic Training Parks (TTP) conduct daily educational programs for kids & adults; its 6 Safety Driving Education Centers (SDEC) give training to learner license applicants & traffic rule violators. All 1000+ Honda dealerships across India provide pre-delivery safety training to new customers with practical insights given through a virtual simulator. Additionally, Honda’s skilled safety instructors take the message further through regular camps in schools, colleges, societies & corporates.
