National, 17th February,2023 (GNI): With an intent of bringing the wilderness of the African continent to the table, “Ravissant” launched its recent collection : ‘An African Odyssey’, a luxurious line of silverware designed by renowned designer Ralf Auerbach. A New Collection for the Most Discerning Tastes, Each scrupulously curated piece coalesces bold, three-dimensional faunal forms inspired by the iconic imagery of the African savannah with rich textures that evoke the raw beauty of the natural world. Deriving inspiration from the rolling savannas be speckled with wildlife to the vibrant colours of exotic birds and bestial mammals, this collection is sure to bring the flair & flamboyance of Africa into your homes. In conjunction with the stunning collection of silverware, conscientiously curated bedspreads and sarees, all based on the same theme, was added to the display.
The event was an immersive experience for the attendees, transporting them to a world of African ethnicity, where their wildest dreams and whimsical imaginations came alive.

Ravissant: Collection History and Concept: In 1961, Mr. Ravi Chawla started his journey with Everett Steam Shipping Corporation and quickly realized the potential of the Company to expand into the travel industry. With most of the clients from America and their willingness to explore new places, he persuaded the management to start a Travel Division. His friend, Mr. V.C. Shukla, a Member of Parliament, also ran a successful business called ‘Allwyn Cooper Pvt Ltd’, which specialized in the hunting of Lions and Tigers which got him to explore the possibilities of collaborating Eeverett with this professionally organized hunting agency.
A very close friend of his Mr. Dattaraj V. “Raj” Salgaocar is a wildlife enthusiast and a keen photographer. He usually visits the wilderness of Africa and India where he takes some exquisite pictures of the animals. As a gift to friends and family, Mr. Salgaocar uses these pictures to make wildlife-themed desk calendars of images from his travels and send it over. Ravi was amazed to see the quality of emotions and expressions of live animals captured in his images. It was his passion for animals and wildlife that inspired Ravi to make a collection of silver items, using the faunal theme.
It all began with a dream – a dream to create something exemplary and unrivalled. Ravi and Mina Chawla, the husband and wife duo, envisaged a world of haute couture, and with that Ravissant blossomed. The initiators wanted to create a world of their own – a place where fashion transcends the ordinary, making a valiant statement. Ravissant, in 1991, burst onto the scene with a revolutionary new concept in the world of sterling silverware, each piece carefully crafted with utmost attention to detail and under the critical eye of the most discerning connoisseurs across Holland, Germany, and Switzerland.
