Mumbai, 14th June 2022 (GNI): The pandemic may have tried to buck the Kala Ghoda Art Festival off gear, but the black stallion of KGAF is back, stronger than ever. Naturally, India’s biggest festival that motivates entrepreneurs from the core of the country to celebrate art will have a lot to offer from February 4-12 2023.
In fact, the pandemic had strengthened this art and cultural extravaganza and expanded its footprint to a global level, making it a compelling delight for art connoisseurs through the world. “The more you try to hold back art, the stronger it emerges. History has been kevidence to this fact,” says Brinda Miller, the driving force behind KGAF. Miller refers to the fact that Kala Ghoda Art Kart, KGAF’s online marketplace, has grown wings and has emerged to be an independent, specially curated 365-day marketplace for arts and crafts of India, giving artisans, artists, craftsmen and small-scale enterprises an opportunity to create awareness through their own digital store.
“The strength of Kala Ghoda Art Kart is that it is not just limited to the nine days of the Kala Ghoda Art Festival in February, but opens up access through the year to discerning buyers to traverse virtually into a vibrant artistic haven. The collection, like KGAF, is sourced and empowers artisans who create by hand. KGAK has assisted such artisans in curating their own shop front digitally and expanding the universe. Many of these craftspeople are getting online for the first time ever,” elaborates Brinda Miller.
Incidentally, the proceeds from the Kala Ghoda Art Festival goes towards conserving this historic precinct’s art and architectural heritage, while the Kala Ghoda Art Kart’s endeavor is to enable Indian craftspeople to find connoisseurs and art lovers across the globe. So as KGAF will trot the streets lighting up India’s most loved art precinct this February, yours to start virtually visiting and shopping at KGAK and support our craftspeople to find patronage for arts, crafts and home-grown enterprise. After all, the real art is in the heart of the hinterlands! Ends GNI SG
