LAVA becomes the first mobile phone company to provide medical & accidental insurance cover to its partners’ field employees

Mumbai, 20th May 2021 (GNI):- Amid a spurt in COVID 19 cases across the states, Indian mobile manufacturer Lava, today announced the medical and accidental insurance worth about Rs.50 crore for nearly 2,500 partners’ field employees, comprising distributor sales executives & delivery boys. Lava has tied up with ‘New India Insurance’ to provide Rs. 1 lakh of medical insurance cover and Rs 1 lakh of accidental insurance cover to each employee.

Mr. Sudhanshu Sharma, National Sales Head of Lava International, said “The field staff is our extended family and their health & safety has always been our topmost priority. Even during these unprecedented times, Lava remains committed to supporting them in every possible way and the health insurance cover is a small step in this direction. We have also decided to extend the benefits of accidental insurance to our field staff who will be back on the road, once the lockdown is lifted.”

The field staff is the lifeline of the company that ensures on-time product delivery and brand promotion but is mostly deprived of the benefits, which are availed centrally by the regular employees. Lava is the first mobile phone company to extend such benefits to its indirect manpower. The insurance will not just help these field employees but also provide some benefits to their children. In addition to this, the insurance covers permanent partial disability & permanent total disability. Lava would be paying a consolidated annual premium to the insurance company on behalf of the field staff. All field employees of partners active as of date will be eligible for this insurance.

Currently, there is a 50:50 split between Lava’s indirect manpower in urban and rural areas, with the highest number of members working in Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, and Tamil Nadu, stated in the press release.
