JALGAON, (MAHARASHTRA), 15th February 2020 (GNI): The Hon. Chief Minister of Maharashtra Uddhav Thackeray was addressing the huge gathering of people including over 5000 farmers at the “Padma Shri. Dr. Appasaheb Pawar 11th Modern Agri-Hi-Tech Award distribution ceremony held by Jain Irrigation Systems Ltd at Jain Hills, Jalgaon. He highly admired Bhavarlal Jain’s exemplary contributions to modernization and enhancement of Indian agriculture through pioneering innovations in modern agri technology and coaxing millions of farmers to adopt it. He said agriculture is the pivot of his government. Quoting Bhavarlalji (Bhau) he said only by empowering farmers India can be empowered to enter a glorious future. He praised the posterity of Bhau for assiduously taking forward Bhau’s great legacy and promised to support it earnestly in every possible way as the Chief Minister of the state. He also inaugurated the “Agri-Bio-Tech Research and Development Facility” here.
Sharad Pawar (former Chief Minister of Maharashtra, and former Central Minister of Agriculture and President of The National Congress Party) praised the lifelong joint efforts of Late Appasaheb Pawar and Bhau to bring progress, prosperity, happiness and dignity in the lives of Indian farmers. He said, “India can transform only when her farmers transform”.
Dattatray Chavhan and with his wife Sau. Chandrakala, – a progressive farmer from Jalna, Maharashtra were honoured by the “Padma Shri Late Dr. Appasaheb Pawar Modern Agri-Hi-Tech Award” here. These awards were instituted by Bhau in 2002 to commemorate Appasaheb Pawar’s humongous contributions to Indian agriculture and to motivate and encourage farmers to adopt scientific approach, innovations and modern agri-technologies such as drip irrigation, tissue culture, solar pumps and automation. The Awards (Rs. 2,00,000 each) are conferred biennially on innovative enterprising farmers.
