Gandhi Films Foundation launches first of a kind ‘Gandhi Exhibition Center’ at Mani Bhavan

–        Gandhi Exhibition Center to display various art forms based on
Gandhian philosophies and principles

–        Aims at spreading Gandhian values to the world by engaging with foreign tourists visiting Mani Bhavan

MUMBAI, January 24, 2020, (GNI): Gandhi Films Foundation launched the ‘Gandhi Exhibition Center’ and held a preview of 150 conceptual artworks titled ‘Uncamouflage” by artist Hetal Shukla today at Mani Bhavan – the iconic place where Gandhiji lived and interacted with his colleagues to mould the freedom movement.

At the launch of the Center, artist Hetal Shukla showcased 150-camouflage-pattern-prints embossed with 150 signature hologram images of the Mahatma with one centre piece in khadi as a reminder that peace is ‘yet’ possible.

The Gandhi Exhibition Center is a tribute to the ‘Father of the Nation’ – Mahatma Gandhi, on his death anniversary, which is observed on January 30. The artwork of renowned artist Hetal Shukla was unveiled by Chief Guest Kumar Ketkar, Member of Parliament, Rajya Sabha and Senior Journalist, and Nitin Potdar, Chairman, Gandhi Exhibition Centre.

The one of its kind of exhibition center is dedicated to displaying arts of any form, which are primarily based on Gandhian philosophies and principles. The Center will also initiate recitations, discourses and debates, which articulate the teachings of Mahatma Gandhi and his contributions to the society.

Moreover, the Center will also initiate regular conversations on global issues like climate change and conflicts and how to create resolve through Mahatma Gandhi’s values and teachings of self-sustenance, self-governance, peace and satyagraha.

The Gandhi Exhibition Center has partnered with artists in India and abroad to initiate conversations and invite them to showcase their art. The Gandhi Exhibition Center at Mani Bhavan would also help in spreading the values to the world through this platform as it is frequented by a large number of foreign tourists, which forge a connect with Gandhiji’s teachings through the art works displayed at the Center.

Nitin Potdar, Chairman, Gandhi Exhibition Centre said, “This initiative is being held in the 150th year of Gandhiji’s birth anniversary. It is important to connect today’s generation with Gandhian philosophies and principles. The center will not only host works of fine art but also display multiple artforms. Mani Bhavan is an iconic place to house artists and thinkers, and through their art, the ideologies of Gandhiji should be re-articulated and presented before the society.”
