Recent work of a group of 4 young talented artists – Anupama Dey, Ashwathi Avinash, Bhaskarjyoti Gogoi and Dattaram Sudhakar Nerurkar will be displayed in a group art exhibition at Jehangir Art Gallery – Auditorium hall, M.G. Road Kala Ghoda Mumbai 400001 from 30th May to 5th June 2023 between 11 am and 7 pm. It will illustrate their genuine artistic instincts and skilful techniques in various mediums and norms under one roof.

Anupama Dey:-She hails from a small village of West Bengal and has a rich artistic background. She has depicted in her work the sentimental connection between human beings and the neglected creatures such as house lizards. After a keen observation of their movement, rhythm, different sounds, body language etc for the lizards in house, she has duly expressed them in her present drawings and prints. Adept in various methods of printmaking like etching, lithography, woodcut, serigraphy etc, her work is lucid and expressive as well as innovative.

 Ashwathi Avinash :- Having undergone regular course ceramics at Sir J.J. School of Arts, Mumbai upto B.F.A, she has interned at a renowned pottery studio of Tejashree Sagvekar for some time in her earlier career. She has been a part of the production process of many tableware products and designed tableware pieces for Rhea Kapoor and handmade ceramic buttons for a fashion designer also. She has made good clay compositions and glazes from scratch as well and has inspected and practised 10 firings of glazed wares. Presently working with a renowned company- The Great Eastern Home, she has also gained experience about slip decoration technique and has been practising her innovative skills on the combination of wood with ceramic in furniture as art.

Bhaskarjyoti Gogoi:- A practising artist from Gauhati, Assam, he had completed his art education up to Bachelor’s degree in 2016 and Master’s degree in 2018 from Indira Kala Sangit UnversityKhairagarh. Having received several awards at state and National level, he has participated in many group shows at Lucknow, Bhopal, New Delhi, Pune, Mumbai etc.

He works in a minimalist way and one can notice the influence of the culture and heritage of the pleasant and silent atmosphere in Assam and surroundings in his work using cool tones. His works have mostly depicted heritage and culture, people and their social and cultural life, flora and fauna of North region along with some typical rare Assamese flowers, birds, and other living  creatures in his innovative endeavours.

Dattaram Sudhakar Nerurkar:- He is an upcoming talented artist from Mumbai having completed his art education up to B.F.A from Sir J.J. School of arts Mumbai in 2018. A proud recipient of numerous national awards and having been selected for the France based scholarship – Euro Art– a cultural exchange scholarship for sculptures in 2019, he has participated in many group shows viz“ Rupayatan” postage group shows in Chandigarh and Busan.

        He works in various mediums but in fond of working with metal and wood. His themes generally covered the topics related to migration. He decorates his works with the expected visual perspectives through grains and lines of the wood. He has focussed his thoughtful ideas on Indian culture, traditions, philosophy, beauty of nature as well as modernity in his work as well as the relevance and sanctity of vivid cultural and social vignettes of the urban and rural folk in our country in his work via unique expressive visual language of expressions.ends GNI SG
