Mumbai, 7th August 2022 (GNI): – NIFT Orientation Programme 2022, NIFT Mumbai has organised three days Orientation Program event to welcome its 333 new entrants in Undergraduate (Design/Technology) and Post Graduate (Design Research/ Fashion Management) courses. This event is scheduled from 3rd August to 5th August 2022 at NIFT Campus Kharghar for Foundation Programme students.
On the first day, the formal function of the orientation programme was inaugurated with the lighting of the lamp by Campus Director Prof. Dr Pawan Godiawala, Ex-Dean Prof. Dr Sharmila Dua, Joint Director Mr Khusal Junagade and Campus Academic Co-ordinator Prof. Dr Sushil Raturi.
The campus Director, Prof. Dr Pawan Godiawala, congratulated all the freshers of NIFT Mumbai. Addressing the students and parents, Director Mumbai talked about NIFT’s time-tested teaching pedagogy, which ensures to discover their identity. NIFT equips them to hone their professional skills by encouraging them to explore new avenues. He mentioned in his speech that NIFT Mumbai is committed to academic excellence and the vision of the institute provides a strong foundation to foster its aspirants. He concluded his speech with a famous motivational couplet :
Abhi ko Asli Manjil pana baki hai
iradon ka imtihan baki hai
toli hai mutthi bhar jameen
abhi tolna aasman baki hai
During the day, a Cyber Jagrookta session was organised for the students conducted by Mr Sagar Gawasane, API, Cyber Crime Cell, Navi Mumbai Police Commissionarate.He talked about online financial and social media frauds and gave insight on how to prevent these frauds. In his speech, he shared a few cases of cybercrime he has recently handled. The session was very beneficial for the students.The Joint Director and Controller of Examinations NIFT Mumbai gave the students an overview of the examination procedures. The Campus Academic Coordinator introduced the academic structure of NIFT. The students took a Campus tour and visited their respective departments to get an overview of their departments. The students and parents attended the orientation programme with full enthusiasm, and overall, there was a lot of positive energy on campus.
DAY 2 events,

The second day of the orientation programme started with the motivation sessions. The first eminent speaker Mr Gangadharan Menon, journalist, theatre actor, theatre director, film actor, documentary filmmaker, and academician, spoke on the topic “Limitations are only in your head”. He said in his speech “there are no limits to what you can accomplish except the limits you place on your own thinking”.
The second eminent speaker of the day was Mr Manish Kelshikar, Design and Management NIFT alumnus, an expert in global fashion retail management, design innovation, marketing and brand communication strategy. He shared his professional experience and gave insight to students on design innovation and brand management.
Post lunch, there was a session by Ms. Sashi Rekha Tallapragada, a Life Skills Counsellor and Clinical psychologist, on ‘Gender Sensitization’. She sensitized students on gender equality concerns and discussed personal attitudes and beliefs questioning the realities of different genders.
The last event of the second-day orientation programme was Alumni interaction. During the session, the Alumni guided the new entrants to focus on internal motivation, sustainability, eco-friendly fashion and other megatrends. They also guided students to follow deadlines, grab opportunities and be experimental and innovative in their future career ahead. Alumni shared their experience of how they overcame entrepreneurial challenges in supply chain management and product planning.

On Day 3 students dressed up inspired from their favorite freedom fighter. The competition was conducted on the theme Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav. was based on the theme of Azadi conducted at NIFT Kharghar Campus on the third day of NIFT Mumbai Orientation Programme 2022.
