Demand for CCTV dealers, installation and repair service rise across India; Delhi generating maximum searches for video surveillance cameras: Just Dial Consumer Insights

–          Demand growth in Tier-II cities remains ahead of Tier-I

–          Tier-II cities like Chandigarh and Lucknow witness high demand

Mumbai, 18th January 2022 (GNI):  Searches for CCTV cameras, installation, and repair services witnessed a major rise across India as per the latest Just Dial Consumer Insights while the national capital of Delhi with a relatively higher crime rate among metropolitan cities, tops the list when it comes to generating demand for video surveillance cameras searches.

As per the report, YOY searches for CCTV installation services grew by 15.2% and that for repair services by 7.7% during the latest quarter ending December 2021. During the same period demand for CCTV cameras remained stable with a marginal growth of 3.2% but the bulk of searches remained the highest. The period also saw a 10.5% rise in demand for biometric attendance recording systems as offices were expected to come back to the physical mode in the New Year. While the bulk of the searches across India came from Tier-I cities, the demand growth rate in Tier-II was high.

Among Tier-I cities, maximum demand was for CCTV repair services and installation services while that for CCTV cameras and biometric attendance recording systems remained stable. A similar trend was also witnessed across Tier-II towns and with maximum searches being witnessed from the cities of Chandigarh and Lucknow.

Commenting on the trend, Mr. Prasun Kumar, CMO, Just Dial, said: “There is an increasing concern among citizens at large to keep themselves secured driven by increased availability of tech driven affordable security solutions.  This awareness is also increasing among Tier-II towns and cities and has been augmented by increasing internet penetration. At Just Dial, we have been successful in aggregating the vastly fragmented market online and provided our users with the best information about local services providers of CCTV cameras and installation services. This has resulted in a rise of online searches across Tier-II towns and cities as well and the online searches for installation services are almost 5X of Tier-I.”

Demand for CCTV cameras remained the highest in Delhi, which as per the latest National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) report released in September 2021, for the second consecutive year in 2020 topped the list of metropolitan cities – with more than two million population – with the maximum crime rate. Mumbai was the second on the list with maximum demand followed by Hyderabad, Bangalore, Chennai, Pune, Kolkata, and Ahmedabad. While the number of searches remained high in Delhi, the demand growth rate in Kolkata remained the highest at 31.8% while Pune was second at 27%. Lucknow topped the list of Tier-II cities with maximum demand, followed by Chandigarh and Jaipur.

Delhi, Mumbai, and Hyderabad were the top-3 cities with maximum demand for installation services while Kolkata witnessed a high growth rate of 29.4%. Among Tier-II cities, Patna, Chandigarh, and Thiruvananthapuram were the leading three cities generating maximum demand.

In terms of repairing services for CCTV cameras, Delhi topped the list with maximum demand followed by Hyderabad, Mumbai, Bangalore, Pune, Kolkata, and Ahmedabad. The demand growth rate in Kolkata remained the highest at almost 40%, indicating that the Eastern Metropolis is growing in awareness when it comes to securing itself. The demand growth rate in Hyderabad stood at 34% while Pune came in at the third position with 28%. Lucknow, Chandigarh, and Jaipur were the top three cities that witnessed maximum searches among Tier-II cities.

Delhi again saw maximum demand for bio-metric attendance record system followed by Mumbai and Hyderabad in the second and third place respectively. Demand in Tier-II cities also grew by 7.2% with maximum demand coming from Chandigarh, Lucknow, and Ranchi.

Among others, demand for GPS trackers in cars was also high in Delhi followed by Mumbai and Chennai in the second and the third spots respectively among Tier-I cities. Among Tier-II, Patna, Ranchi, and Coimbatore were the three cities that drove maximum demand, stated in the press release.
