Mumbai, 09th August 2021 (GNI): The Make Earth Green Again MEGA Foundation, through the MEGA Achievers Awards, recognized and lauded the celebrities and dignitaries, who, through their efforts and initiatives, have strived to help make the Earth a better place. Actor Sonakshi Sinha, who was awarded with the Mother Teresa Earth Icon award for her active participation in helping to make the Earth green again by encouraging the youth and mobilizing the masses to undertake tree plantation drives across her fans and followers. “Protecting the planet is a cause that is too close to my heart. I am really honoured and I’d like to thank Dr. Anusha Srinivasan Iyer and the Make Earth Green Again MEGA Foundation. Its really heartwarming to be held in such high regard by the people who have consistently dedicated to the cause of the environment. I myself have been a part of their tree plantation drive in Mumbai very recently to undo the damage done by cyclone Tauktae,” the bubbly actor said, while adding that she is looking forward to many more of such opportunities to fight climate change.

“I’d say, it starts from everyone’s home. It won’t work out if everyone expects the other person to go to the frontline and do their bit while they themselves aren’t doing it,” says Bhagyashree, the vivacious actor who needs no introduction! Awarded with the ‘Healing Earth Icon’ award, she firmly believes, “We should live our lives in such a way in which we are able to leave a Green Earth for our children. Giving back to earth is important.”

“For every tree that is cut, we will plant a 100 trees. That should be the mission,” adds Indian entertainment industry veteran Ananth Mahadevan, who has time and again, voiced for the voiceless! In association with Make Earth Green Again MEGA Foundation, he has also planted trees and continues to inspire the masses to do the same! The National award-winning Actor-Director-Writer was awarded with the Iconic Voice For the Voiceless award.

Apart from Sonakshi Sinha, Bhagyashree and Ananth Mahadevan, celebs and dignitaries included Devoleena Bhattacharjee (Pawsitive Earth Icon) and Karenvir Bohra (Global Green Earth Icon) among others. Filmmakers including Lakshmi R Iyer (Women Empowerment Icon) and Smita Thackeray (Egalitarian Earth Warrior) were also awarded. Brinda Miller (Conservation of Art & Culture), who is also the chairperson of the Kala Ghoda Association of the iconic Kala Ghoda Arts Festival (KGAF), was also awarded for her invaluable contribution towards the all things art! Activist Hemangi Joshi, who promotes electric cremation through her foundation, Green Moksha, was also awarded and recognized for saving trees and helping to conserve the environment.

Journalist Iqbal Mamdani (Egalitarian Earth Warrior) and his team helped cremate over 1000 dead bodies and also helped ferry and cremate COVID victim bodies. Make Earth Green Again MEGA Foundation recognised and lauded Iqbal Mamdani for his invaluable contribution towards being a messiah for humanity in the midst of the pandemic. Activist Rahul Kanal (Social Welfare Icon) was also awarded for his contribution towards several social causes across the city through his ‘I Love Mumbai’ Foundation. Constable Rahul Khatal (Egalitarian Earth Warrior) is always at the forefront when it comes to aid to humanity where, recently, he distributed raincoats to the frontline officers. Apart from the above, Chunky Pandey, actor cardiologist Niharica Raizada, ACP Sudhir Kudalkar, Kalpesh Mehta, Chand Seth, Leena Ingle, Soniya Sharma, Krishnaveni Srinivasan, Siddhant Gill and Vedant were also seen at the do presenting awards to the well-deserved awardees!

With the mission to reverse the environmental damage caused by mankind, Make Earth Green Again MEGA Foundation strives for the sustenance of Mother Earth and its inhabitants.
