India’s largest undergraduate 3 days film festival of 16th edition of Frames inaugurated
MUMBAI, (GNI): The first day of Frames began with a bang. The day started off with the inauguration of the 16th edition of Frames, powered by 9X Jalwa. This is India’s largest undergraduate film festival and is a 3 day fest that started on 10th January.
The guests of honour were Ms. Himani Shivpuri and Mr. Parvin Dabas who inaugurated the fest with the college’s esteemed faculty. Mr. Dabas has been part of major Indian feature films like, My Name Is Khan and Monsoon Weddings while Ms. Shivpuri has played iconic characters like Buaji from Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jaayenge and Rifatbi from Kuch Kuch Hota Hai.
There was a dance performance that was done by the students of the BMM department. This dance depicted the visions of 7 directors of the Bollywood industry. The guests along with the faculty were then invited on stage to light the lamp and give a few encouraging words to the students. Mr. Dabas said, “One of the most important things to be an actor and director is passion and that is what I see here”.
After this, the screening of the first category of the day, International Short Films, was done in the auditorium where Ms. Shivpuri and Mr. Dabas were part of the judging panel. Out of the 4000 plus entries, 10 of the best international short films were shortlisted and screened in front of the panel and the students. After the screening, they were invited on stage to speak about the shortlisted films and they were both really glad to have been a part of the screening. Ms. Shivpuri said, “I was very moved. Congratulations to the people who selected the films. They were done by amateurs yet they were poetic and beautiful”. They were thanked for their time and were given a token of appreciation.
This was then followed by the screening of National Short Films in the evening. The judging panel consisted of Rakesh Bedi, Akash Dabade and Ravi Shankar. The 10 best shortlisted films were screened in the auditorium with a lot of fervour. Ends
Frames continues to celebrate its 16th edition on the 11th and 12th January. The itinerary for the two days are as follows:
– 11th January: Documentaries, Ad Films and Contingent Films.
– 12th January: Music videos, Animation, Award Ceremony.
Some of the celebrities who will be attending the 2nd day are Aditya Seal, Chitraarth Singh and Param Singh Bhatia. There will also be a panel discussion that will be held from 12.30 to 2.00 with Dalip Tahil and Uday Shankar Pani. The topic for the same is “Society in Motion”.
Another interactive session will be held on the 12th of January with Tanuj Virwani. This will be followed by the Award Ceremony. Celebrities like Ahsaas Channa, Kavita Seth and Soumitra Ranade will be gracing this day. Ends
