MUMBAI, (GNI): After 8 years of intensive craftsmanship by 100 artisans put into building the Jain temple at Nahar’s Amrit Shakti township in Chandivali, Ms. Amruta Fadnavis (wife of Devandra Fadnavis, Chief Minister of Maharashtra) today graced the temple opening ceremony on the auspicious occasion of Pratishtha Mahotsav. Sukhraj B. Nahar, Chairman and Managing Director, Nahar Group; Smt. Sohini Devi Nahar; Ms. Manju Yagnik, Vice Chairperson, Nahar Groupand Ajay Nahar, Chairman and Managing Director, Nahar Projectswere also present at the occasion. The temple opening celebrations began on June 15th with a vargoda procession.
The two-day celebrations witnessed the presence of high level esteemed dignitaries: Prakash Mehta, Minister of Housing, Government of Maharashtra; Devji Patel, Member of Lok Sabha for Jalore; Ajay Sancheti, MP of Rajya Sabha for Maharashtra; Sushil Kumar Shinde, Former Chief Minister of Maharashtra; Rahul Shewale, Lok Sabha member from Mumbai South Central constituency; Raj K. Purohit, politician and senior member of the BJP; Ujjwal Nikam, Senior lawyer and Hafeez Contractor, leading architect.
The temple has been built as per Nagradi Prasad style architecture and covers an area of about 5200sqft (plinth), while the upasara area is about 8000 sqft (ground +1). The temple is made up of white makrana marble with intricate carvings. Each carving has been done in Rajasthan in a phase-wise manner and brought in to Mumbai. The temple’s exterior idols have been delicately carved by Orissa based craftsmen.
On the opening of the Jain temple, Sukhraj B. Nahar, Chairman and Managing Director, Nahar Group said, “The decision of building the Jain temple in Nahar’s Amrit Shakti holds more of an emotional significance. Now with the opening of the temple there is a sense of fulfillment.I believe that having a place of worship creates a positive environment in and around the vicinity.” Ends
