MUMBAI, (GNI): Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Minister of State for Home Hansraj Ahir, Minister for State for Home, Dr. Kirren Rijju, Indresh Kumarji and several leaders join to honor the family of martyrs.
MUMBAI, (GNI):- Commemorating the bravery and martyrdom of our soldiers in Mumbai terror attacks. Held on the 26th of November 2017, at Bombay Stock Exchange building, Mumbai, FANS (Forum for Awareness of National Security) honored this day by calling it as ‘26/11 Memorial Day’.
The objective of the event was not just to spread awareness on national security, but also at helping the masses understand the significance of mass vigilance and preparedness.
Speaking at the occasion, Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Devendra Fadnavis, said, “Over the last two years we have improved our security systems, provided better weapons to the police, bulletproof vests, improved co-ordination between police, army and naval forces. I feel that both state and central government will continue to do more, but it is also important that the citizens act as the eyes and ears of the government. We are using fisherman and people living on the coastline as our eyes and ears.”
Speaking at the event, Shri Indresh Kumar, Mentor and Guide FANS and Member of National Executive RSS said, “Every citizen has a responsibility not just to themselves but to the country and this responsibility is of paramount importance when it comes to terrorism. If Pakistan continues to use terrorism as a way to harm our country then over a period of time this negative energy will ultimately ruin them.”
Hansraj Ahir, Minister of State for Home Affairs, said, “Terrorism is a global problem and almost every country in the world is fighting against it in their own way. We are securing our borders both on land and naval against terrorism. But these efforts won’t be successful without the vigilance of citizens.”
“If there is an incident of terrorism in the financial capital it has a major impact on the country at large. Hence, we have created an integrated coastal security and made investments in our border and police force. But no talk about security can be complete without the participation of the common people. Rights and responsibilities go hand in hand and citizens have an equal responsibility by being vigilant,” according to Dr Kirren Rijju, Minister of State for Home.
Parents of Shaheed Major Sandeep Unnikrishnan attended and were felicitated at the function. Arun Jadhav Crime Branch who was involved in capturing Ajmal Kasab along withAssistant Police Inspector Sanjay Gowilkar of Special Task Forcewere also felicitated at the function for roles played during the 26/11 terrorist attack.
To continue the spirit of fight against terrorism and increase vigilance, FANS has instituted an award called 26/11 Memorial Day award. That will be given from next year to recognize and honor brave soldiers from forces or citizens of India. This will help in increasing awareness and become an inspiration for people.
